One cold and rainy West Coast day, a classically trained cellist, two vegetarians, a punk rocker, and a dread lock joined together to form The Void –a group of highly evolved super-apes creating music to define a generation.
Bringing their dynamic show of hard Cello rock across the globe, the Void generates a unique chemistry with their audience. The band rarely plays the same set twice, often “switching it up” halfway through the show in response to the crowd and atmosphere.
The Void’s fan base is solid and loyal, kick-started by local battle of the bands contests, including winning top prize at the May 2005 Fan Wars competition with record presales. They have played to sold-out crowds throughout their home base of Vancouver in many of its major venues, and made the top 10 finalists out of thousands in 2006's Emergenza Festival competition.
2007 was the busiest year yet, with the band playing to thousands of fans on the Vans Warped Tour; rocking Western Canada's largest and most influential music festival 'New Music West'; playing club dates up and down the West Coast of North America, and performing with the likes of Bad Religion, Pennywise, Killswitch Engage, Yellow Card and The Socially Retarded. The debut album from The Void, “Broken Bottles & Empty Promises” was released to critical acclaim, with songs featured on international podcasts and licensing deals currently in the works.
With no plans to stop the momentum, The Void has a heavy touring schedule planned for 2008. A North American tour from Vancouver to New York is in the works, as well as a cross-Canada tour and appearances at various international festivals.
This generation sees a world of war, and with hope in hand, is starting a revolution. Every revolution needs a soundtrack, and The Void is perfect fuel for the fire. Listen close, and do your part to change this world...
