Years after the ZYDECO Alligators had successfully toured through Germany,
the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland with accordion player Alex Bernard,
the band re-formed in January 2001. They remain as one of the few currently-
existing Zydeco bands in Germany which still perform on stage at festivals, in
clubs, and at parties, as the sizes of the Zydeco scenes in Europe and the
USA are quite different.
The ZYDECO Alligators are pleased to present a new program, which, just as
before, is characterized by enthusiasm, talent, and above all lively and
authentic Zydeco music.
In their music, which, apart from their own pieces and arrangements, also
includes music by such well-known Zydeco musicians like C.J. Chenier, Geno
Delafose, and Chubby Carrier, the Alligators dont try simply to copy existing
works. The six musicians, all accomplished musicians of German Blues and
the Folk Rock scene place more value upon putting their own ideas into
practice, as well as fun, which is what this music is all about.
After only a few concerts with the new line-up, the ZYDECO Alligators win
the Blues Award and the Audience Choice Award at the 19th International Blues Festival in Dresden.
In June of 2002, the band released their CD .. live in Neustadt and the bands first studio CD Louisiana Ball has already appeared in October of the same year. Because of their 7 original compositions on it, theyve also been well-received among critics.
Zydeco, rhythmic music from the French-speaking Creole culture in
southwest Louisiana, thats fun to dance to, is played on accordions and
washboards, and has its roots in Blues and Rhythm & Blues music.
In 2004 the Band release her new live cd \"Big City Night\".
